About the Counselor:
Kara Miller is a Brookings Harbor High school graduate who obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Portland State in 2012. After having her daughter, Ms. Miller returned to Brookings where she received her Master's Degree in School Counseling from Capella University in 2017.
Mission statement:
The goal of the Azalea Middle School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive developmental school counseling program for our middle school students. Within our program, we work to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all students. We do this in developmentally appropriate ways that enable personal growth and academic success.
The counseling program at AMS believes:
- All students have unique and individual personal potential and are capable of achieving their potential if given appropriate opportunities
- All students are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect
- All students have the right to a safe, nurturing and encouraging learning environment which supports and enhances student achievement
- All students have the right to be served by a professional school counselor as well as by a developmentally appropriate and comprehensive school counseling curriculum
