Brookings-Harbor School District welcomed Mr. David Marshall as the new superintendent of the district effective Monday, June 22, 2020.
The school board unanimously approved an earlier start to Supt. Marshall's contract at its regular June Board meeting on Wednesday, June 17, citing the need to urgently address issues related to summer and fall operations during a challenging time for school districts working to fulfill educational missions while adhering to state safety mandates related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Supt. Marshall originally planned to take the helm July 1, following interim Supt. Chris Eberhardt, who led the district during the 2019-20 school year, and whose last day with the district was June 19.
In March, after the announcement of the finalist selection for the Superintendent, School Board Chairman Alan Nidiffer commented: “Mr. Marshall brings a wealth of experiences and skills to the superintendent position. The board and I look forward to creating a unique partnership with our new superintendent that results in greater student success for each child in the Brookings-Harbor school district.”
Marshall is excited to begin his work on the South Coast and has already taken part in numerous school and community meetings in the days leading up to the transition. He brings experience from his role as Assistant Superintendent/Human Resources Director for Hermiston School District in Hermiston, Oregon. He has 12 years of administrative experience in education including seven years as an assistant superintendent and student services director in the Milton-Freewater school system. His education specialist’s degree was earned from Lewis and Clark College.
“My family and I are excited about joining the Brookings-Harbor community,” Supt. Marshall said. “We met many outstanding, dedicated staff and community members during the superintendent search process. We are honored to join these outstanding educators and parents in pursuit of educational excellence for their students.”
